Affiliate Disclosure
The short version: Closeness Lab is reader-supported through affiliate links. Where a page carries one, the link is labelled where it appears — and if you click it and make a purchase, we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. Whatever we link to, using our link would never make it cost you more.
How it works
When we recommend a product, we may link to a retailer or brand through an affiliate programme. Right now, the affiliate links on this site go to Lovense, through Lovense’s own affiliate programme; if we join other retailers or networks (such as Impact, CJ Affiliate or Awin) in the future, we’ll disclose those the same way. If you buy through one of these links, the retailer may pay us a small percentage of the sale, at no extra cost to you. This is a common way independent content sites fund their work.
How affiliate relationships affect our content — they don’t
- We choose which products to feature based on our published review methodology — research-based at launch, and we say so whenever a review involves hands-on testing — not on commission rates. The same rule governs our research comparisons: commission plays no part in which products are included, how they are described, or the order in which they appear. See our review methodology →.
- We include products we consider worth recommending even when they don’t offer an affiliate program, and we leave out products we don’t rate, regardless of commission.
- A commission never buys more favourable treatment or the removal of criticism.
Where you’ll see disclosures
In line with the U.S. FTC’s endorsement guides (16 CFR Part 255) and the UK ASA/CAP rules, our policy is to place a clear disclosure at the top of every article that contains affiliate links, and next to affiliate buttons where relevant, with “Ad” labelling for UK readers where required. You’ll see this on any guide that carries affiliate links, such as our app-controlled couples-vibrators research comparison.
